What is Reiki?
Reiki is one of the most ancient healing methods known. It is a form of Hands-On Energy Healing, originating in ancient Tibet (2500-year old Sanscrit writings refer to it). Reiki is a natural method of healing utilizing Universal Life Force Energy present in every living thing. When one's energy or "ki," "chi," or "prana" is depleted or out of balance, illness and negativity have opportunity to enter the body, mind and/or spirit. Reiki recharges one's own life force and balances energy within the body, mind, emotions and spirit. A balanced person is a healthy person. Reiki is best known for helping reduce stress and tension, as well as clearing negative energy.
Is Reiki Real?
There are some who think Reiki is magic or trickery, but it's nothing like that. Every person has energy stored in their cells in various body parts. Doctors and scientists have done studies and know that we store trauma in our DNA and can even pass it to future generations. Various hospitals around the country employ Reiki Practitioners to complement traditional Western therapies. (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centers, New York Presbyterian and Columbia University Medical Center)

Is Reiki Safe?
Reiki is safe for everyone, including children, babies, pregnant women, pets and plants. Reiki is natural and does not interfere with medications or medical treatments. There is nothing negative or evil about Reiki and it cannot be forced on anyone. You must be open and willing to receive it.

Is Reiki Religious?
There is firm evidence that people can be healed by the power of prayer. Is that not the calling on universal life force and focusing that energy toward a person? If you are a religious person, Reiki will often only confirm your belief system. If you are an atheist or have more science-based thoughts, Reiki has often been compared to science. It's a scientific fact that trauma resides in the body, in the cells, fascia, muscles and even joints. This trauma can be physical (like from surgery, childbirth or an illness) or mental/emotional (like depression, anxiety or PTSD). If the information that comes through in a session seems more religious or doesn't fit with your path, take what makes sense to you and leave the rest. Reiki helps you let go of what no longer serves you, so you don't need it anymore anyway! That said, just like God and angels may seem unreal, dark matter and atoms may be something we can't see, touch or wrap our minds around, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist.
Why Does Reiki Cost Money?
You pay your doctor, plumber, waiter for their training, time and service. Reiki practitioners have to go through a minimum of three levels of training, as well as practice on themselves daily in order to maintain a high level of clarity to serve others. When you pay for a Reiki healing session, you are setting a value and committing to your own healing. Without an exchange of energy, you have no stakes involved in your own ability to heal. Michelle incorporates many alternative healing modalities into each healing session and provides personalized care for each client. Akashic Records work usually costs a great deal more than Michelle charges and she combines that work with Reiki so that healing of past trauma can occur rather than just knowing about it.

What Should I Look for in a Reiki Healer?
First, talk to the person and see how you FEEL about them. If you get a good feeling from someone, trust that. If you don't, walk away and keep searching. Be sure to ask the practitioner if she practices on herself. Every energy healer should be doing work on herself/himself. This keeps the healer more grounded and the energetic channel clear so that you receive the clearest/best energy possible. If possible, don't let cost be your deciding factor. We so often allow ourselves an expensive meal, yet balk at something that could change our lives. Do something good for you if it has to potential to lift your vibration more than a meal.
